Dear All, Please guide me about Chennai Professional Tax deduction, I googled it but there is lots of confusion, one of my friend saying there would be no deduction if employee is getting less than 21000/ salary per month , other is saying this 21000 is for 6 months,
please advise.

Hi,
It is not monthly income. If the Average Half-Yearly Income is 21000/-or less than that then no professional tax. Please note that apart from salary any other perks like food allowance /week end allowance will also attract Professional tax.
