Hi All,
I was in bench for 3 odd months, I submitted the resignation date and got relieved same day. I recieved the resignation acceptance letter with resignation and relieving date on same day. Is this fine?

Hi,
It depends. What was your employment terms on Separation ? Is there any notice period clause either party to serve? Since you were there for 3 months without project based on your resignation you was relieved by your employer on the same day of resignation, I believe.
Once resignation is submitted by the employee, it shows that the employee is no more interested to continue and the relieving part goes to the discretion of the employer. What you have specified in the resignation letter.. did you added any word requesting the employer to relieve you ASAP?. Check on the employment terms and request with HR for notice period pay.

Hi Sir,
Thank you for your inputs. Yes, I had 2 months of notice period but as there was no project they relieved me immediately. I have mentioned as better opportunity while resignation.

Company can relieve on the same day itself. So in this case, if you have no other job in hand, you lost two months pay (notice pay). The same scenario applies when companies treat lay off as a voluntary resignation. However in that case, some firms add some amount as compensation (instead of notice period).

Normally the date of resignation and relieving letter is different but in some cases it could be same. An institute can relieve on the same day by giving one month advance pay which is majorly followed practice. I was confused about writing my own resignation letter so see this website to learn some points as well as get their services that lead me to write it effectively.
