Please try to put in all the relevant and available info in one so as to enable the members to respond. Was it clearly stated that you will be liable to pay 1/2/3 months salary if you do not serve the notice period? Did you inform the concerned about the leave and reason behind availing it? Was the target linked to amount penalized or is it something to do with only notice period not being served? If the issues is purely linked to reaching of target, you stand a chance to absolve yourself in case the issue is taken further. However as a mature person an employee has to see as to what papers he/she is signing before taking the employment and if there is/are any issues was there clear communication sent to the concerned highlighting the issue[s]? You cannot just turn around and say like lawyers in the Court that you were subjected to mental harassment blah blah unless this was already raised and in the knowledge of all those who are supposed to know. Your running away from responsibilities is not a good sign.
