My wife is working in one of the english school since 22 years and she is getting only 6700 rs, salary pm. The EPF was deducted on the Gross salary (appx. 700/) Rs. But now management has change and they have split the gross salary (6700) in to basic and other allowances. Now the EPF is deducting of Rs. 380/- Rs. only. Is it possible to reduce the EPF.
when the salary is so low than how can they split into Basic & other heads?? so what to do?? Actually what should be the EPF on the above salary structurre??

split of salary/ increment / change of structure is done only after proper discussion between employees and management and HR, and the final draft is done after majority acceptance, if the incident is happening, then it is not with the single person, but for all employees, if they all are dissatisfied, then they can move to labor commissioner and EPFO jointly against the management decision, but as far as our knowledge go, employees are well informed in advance before any change in salary structure,

As per notification by EPFO followed by courts decision in a well known litigation of G4S vs Regional commissioner of EPFO it has been made clear that the wage structure should be such that the Basic should not be less than the prevailing minimum wages, so in this case the school authorities shall deduct on the Rs. 6700/--.

there are so many court orders on teaching faculty / staff, as their wages days and working hours are not similar to other industry, so their pay-scale is determined by the recognizing board, not the labor commissioer
