Dear Members,

Hellow !!

Please ,Can any of the learned Senior HR Professionals throw light on this Issue and advise.

We have come across information on various kinds of welfare facilites and benefits being provided to employess and also have talked about Good HR Practices in various companies.

Off late I have come across a case study and it led me to bring this study to the notice of all my group members.

What is the type of leave provision being given to employees when their children or say family members fall sick?

As far as we know an employee will avail Earned Leave or Sick leave that she/he is eligible for which is meant for employee only and no where in the Leave rules do we see for family or children.

When a company hires a employee(S),the company frames HR policies and practices that are convieminet to both Management and Employees,(Both of the functions being carried out by Human Beings). While Company considers to grant Maternity and paternity leave,

then why is it not considering the family or child sickness leave?

Why has this factor in Human life being ignored by the HR practioners.

Since I have come across a case wherein a working woman left the job for asimple reason that her child was seriously ill and she was not granted paid leave by the management. The reason stated by the management was that there is no provision for paid leave for sicknes of family membes or children.

This made me wonder whether we truly are moving towards Human Resource Development ?

Hello,
Its really sad to know that such things exits in HR system.I am a very fresher to the HR process, and whenever i hear from friends who work in organisations saying its difficult to get leaves or half day etc for some genuine reasons they are not given..I always say that why does an HR doesnt understand a human has other life too and if he/she is happy, stable in the life apart from work life then his performance will surley go up..After all work is not the only factor of survival in life..The HR policies should be framed such a way that all employees at all the level are benefited with professional and personal life. The development of a human's life can be taken into consideration..like his/her marraige,on becoming a parent, illness of family members esp old people etc..I mean such factors are part of everyone's life,..so Considering these and respecting each individuals importance for these an HR system and overall Organisation's system can be framed.

Dear
Leave policy is an internal matter and localised to every Organization . You cause for leave provision being given to employees when their children or say family members fall sick is laudable .But leave Policy is also guided by Statute. Inpractice you will find already organization have extended their Leave policy in excess of the Law.Asking for more may also lead to trouble.
