I want interpretation on the concept of computing 240 days in a year for the purpose of continuous service. why only 240 days why not less or more

240 days physical attendance is the right term
365 (no of days in year) - (no of weekly off + EL +CL +Festive holidays+ Gazzated Holidays+ other leaves as medical etc) the notional presence must be 240 per year to get eligibility
