Hello All, I wanted to know about the sandwich leave policy.
Suppose an employee is taking leaves on Mon and Tues and Wed Thurs and Friday is off due to the Diwali holiday (Sat and Sun are off) and he resumes on Monday. Will sandwich be applicable?
Secondly, if an employee has PL and wishes to apply for leave wherein sandwich is applicable, so what will be the scenario? Will the sandwich be applicable? Or balanced leave will be deducted and no sandwich will be applied?

Hi,
There will be two case :-
1st : Sandwich will be applicable as being going on leave in constitutive two weekends (sat-sun - before going on leaves and after the diwali holiday ). so this should be consider a sandwich and leaves will be deducted.
2nd : Being worked on friday before weekoffs(preceding of leave) so if HR policy can allow sandwich rule will not be applicable.
Also in sandwich rule he can apply for leaves but approval is in hand of HR and manager.

Hi I wanted to understand if there is Holiday on Tuesday and we have weekends off ie. Saturday and Sunday and I apply for a leave on Monday, will that be considered under Sandwich leave policy.

Can an organization change the Policy as per their will anytime and not inform their employees about the same.

If you have applied for casual leave on Monday and you resume duty on Wednesday, then only one day CL will be deducted. But if you are taking PL/EL/AL on Monday and again on Wednesday then Tuesday will be counted among the leave.
Leave matters have to be uniformly applied to all and clear policy guidelines need to exist, as such situations repeat every now and then. Changing decisions recurrently does not indicate sound organisation policy and health.
