Why esi and other central government organisations are not coverable under esi act ?
When esi act under section 1 itself clearly says primarily all organisations including government are coverable under esi act... by virtue of engaging of private security agencies and outsourcing personnel... is esi institutes are not coverable under esi act? in the same scenerio is there any blanket exemption for all central government or state government and psus etc. from the statutory liability of coverage as principal employers under respective labour laws in the light of engaging of different part time and outsourcing workers...

Dear all we are from one manufacturing industry we need esi covarage to our workers. we approach somany times to esi office hyderabad they replay us that our unit is not covered in esi area. our workers are continuosly asking us regarding esi covarge. kinldy suggest us how we can cover the esi to our workers who are under 15k.

Dear sir regarding the coverage of esi i have the following doubt. some of the contract workers are working in our industry on piece rate and all these are covered under esi. most of these people and most of the times they are earning more than rs. 15000/ per month including overtime. they are requesting to bring them out of the coverage of esi. i informed to my boss that all these people should have fixed wage which should be more than rs. 15000/ then only we can bring them out of the coverage. but he is having opinion that since these people are drawing more on most of the times they can brought out of the coverage. what can we do? kindly clarify giri

The wage ceiling for coverage under the esi act for an employee under disability raised to rs 25000/ month the wage ceiling for coverage under the employees state insurance act of an employee with disability under equal opportunities protection of rights and full participation act 1995 and national trust for welfare of persons with autism cerebral palsy mental retardation and multiple disabilities act 1999 has been fixed at rs.25000/ per month effective 1.4.2008. accordingly those employed in factories and establishments drawing monthly salary up to rs.25000/ will be covered under the esi act. however the respective employers shall not pay employers share of contribution up to a maximum period of three years from the date of commencement of the contribution period. regards madhu.t.k
Esi coverage in areas which do not have any esi infrastructure
I m working with a large manufacturing company in orissa. the company is exempted for esi in respect of regular employees. for contract workers we have a system of providing coverage through a workmen compensation policy and has a dispensary to take care of their immediate health needs. the company is located at a place which does not come under the municiple limit of the nearest town and is in a village. the town has a small & insufficient setup of esi infrastructure in such a situation is it necessary to have esi registeration for contract workers or esi registeration is must with or without esi infrastructure. friends please help regards arvind tiwari orissa
