Hi,
This is my first post. First of all, I would like to thank the community for haring their knowledge, experience and facilitating a polite discourse around variety of HR topics.
Background:
I am going to be joining a firm in IT and would be staying in a Guest House near the office. For this I have decided to negotiate an HRA for let's say, 10000. Now, it turns out that the CTC with this HRA included amounts to a tax bracket where I would have to show some TDS.
I would like to escape this tax bracket - not that I want to evade tax or anything but simply, if this HRA is paid for the purposes of guest house and I get a verbal agreement from the company that "please show this 10000 as HRA but since this is going for guest house, my salary would lie outside the tax bracket although it would still show as part of the salary component on paper"
Is there a provision to get such a verbal agreement from the company?
Note: The constraint is that I want this 10000 to be shown as HRA on paper.
