The scope of the Works Committee as per ID Act 1947 is as follows:
It shall be the duty of the Works Committee to promote measures for securing and preserving amity and good relations between the employer and workmen and, to that end, to comment upon matters of their common interest or concern and endeavor to compose any material difference of opinion in respect of such matters.
So practically it means anything and everything under the sun with regard to the industry in question. Moreover to keep any issue concerning the employees out of this forum will not help in the long run and one should not shy away from discussing the matters. Use the forum to ventilate the feelings, howsoever absurd it may be, it helps in building a relationship of trust and openness.
