Hello,
I am a Management student and as a part of my academics I am conducting a survey through which I would like to understand the relevance of the Reference check in the Recruitment Process, its advantages and challenges. For what levels should a reference check be conducted, who should conduct and who can be an appropriate reference. It would be great help for me if the HR professionals would help me in this regard.

Dear Student,
First and foremost let me ask about making your post anonymous. What is the logic of concealing your identity while seeking help from seniors?
VUCA or otherwise, as long as the forgery exists, BGV will be required. Just check the news that was published few days ago:

Earlier, Scott Thomson, the then CEO of Yahoo had to lose his job for misrepresentation of the facts in his CV. Click the following link to refer it:

If the forgery of the CV happens at the CEO level then why it cannot happen at the lower level? Therefore, BGV is required.
Thanks,
