Dear Nira, Who is asking for the character certificate and why is that employee asking? What is your designation? Are you from HR or from some other department? While raising a query or providing basic information, you could have been a little less stingy.
If any employee approaches for the character certificate, then you may tell him/her that you can issue only the workplace conduct certificate. Character is made up of attributes that determine a person's moral and ethical actions and reactions. Since employers do not know about an employee's off-duty actions and reactions, they cannot vouch for it.
This certificate can be like any other normal employment certificate. Just add one more sentence that the employee's conduct and deportment at the workplace are good. Lastly, mention why this certificate is being issued.
