No, election days should be observed as closed holidays for all factories, shops and commercial establishments. In Karnataka there is no requirement of any special declaration in this regard unlike many other states where separate notification will be issued by the Labour Department because under Karnataka Industrial Establishments (National and Festival Holidays) Act there is a special provision (section 3A) to grant holiday on election day.
