All of us are aware of the changes brought in by the Maternity Benefits Act last year, wherein one of the points emphasized was that of establishing a Creche facility within 500 metres of where the Woman Employee is working so that the child can be fed at least 4 times a day. We were looking for some more clarity on this aspect.
1) Do we have clear guidelines from the Karnataka State Government on the age group of the child ? For Example - The child needs to be of age of 6 months
to 2 years only.
2) Is there clarity on alternatives for organisations which are small and cannot have a crèche within 500 mts ?
3) How does this apply to organisations which have night shift Women Employees and the organisation cannot have its own crèche ?
4) For organisations which are providing transport facility to employees, how will the transport guidelines apply for the child and what are the key points to
be borne in mind to ensure the safety of the child ?
