Dear all,
Kindly elaborate me about this topic.... why not candidates with good practical knowledge weren't given chance...in tier 1 or 2 companies?what is the reason behind....?
Why companies focus on academic eligiblity criteria? why can't a student who wasn't able to score 60 or 70% in his 10th or 12th ,can be a best talent now with his practical knowledge.
Kindly advise me on this topic

These are certain hunches, there are no proofs. I for one involved in many interviews across cadres has consistently looked at the school level academic performance of all candidates as well as consistency in performance and it may have influenced the recommendations too. It is based on the belief that better academic record in school means the basics and fundamentals are strong, the student has hard working nature and the overall personality is accommodative or adjusting nature. There are many cases where the candidates have shown extra ordinary brilliance at a later stage of study in an otherwise lackluster academic record and vice versa. But pointed questions were asked on the sudden change and explanation sought and where the candidate was able to explain, including some tragic story, were also rewarded well.
