KK!HRDear Tapaswini : Normally organisations have Casual leave to meet emergencies availed in full day or half day basis, medical leave or sick leave to meet medical needs and Privilege leave/Earned Leave/Annual Leave the different nomenclatures denote bulk leave allowed to an employee towards his personal needs. While CL does not get carried forward, i.e., the unavailed portion lapses at the end of the year, medical leave and privilege leave gets carried forward subject to limits in this regard. But these are practices of yore, legacies of governmental style of working and there is a need to relook . Why not consolidate every type of leave and allow only one type of leave and simplify its usage.
