Pf act applicability
Dear seniors this is vinayak working as a hr in textile unit. i need one help from you kindly see the question as described below which is related to pf applicability to sizing & warping units textile manufacturing as per the employees provident funds & miscellaneous provisions act 1952 the act is applicable a to every factory engaged in any industry specified in schedule i to the act and employing 20 or more persons; b to every other establishment employing 20 or more persons specified by the central govt. in this behalf. but schedule i describes textile made wholly or in part of cotton or wool or jute or silk whether natural or artificial. and expression textile includes the products of carding spinning weaving finishing and dyeing yarn and dyeing yarn and fabrics printing knitting and embroidering. my actual question is in the schedule i: the act describes the expression of textile as above but it does not include sizing & warping. then question arises is pf act is applicable to sizing & warping? which almost a part of textile manufacturing. i have confusion on this topic kindly clear my doubt. awaiting your reply.

We are operating a textile processing unit in kerala. it is in a beginning stage. in this connection it may be verified and confirmed that the minimum wages kerala is applicable to this industry. explanation on our operation. we are collecting knitted cotton frabric form knitters or garment manufactures and the same will be bleached/washed with the help of machines and required chemicals and the same will be delivered to the sender itself. basically it is a job work and we are getting our price on kg basis. the senders/our custiomers are from tamil nadu 1 please clarify the minimum wages provisos under kerala is applicable to this industry? 2 it is also observed that minimum wages are notified for hand loom industry textile manufacturing industry and hosiery/garment manufacturing industry. what is the satus in this regard? please help us in getting an authentic opinion murali.

Dear all contract labour r & a act is applicable to the place where any industry trade business manufacture or occupation is carried on. in other words the act has been extended to industries covered under the factories act shops & establishments act mines act and plantation act. will the act be applicable where totally agricultural activities are carried on ?. there are thousands of contract workers working in the sugar cane fields especially cutting and transporting the sugar cane to the sugar mills. while minimum wages are notified by some state govts agricultural activity has not been declared as an industry so far. what are the labour laws applicable for the lakhs of contract workers mostly engaged in the agricultural activities ?. i request veterens in the labour law profession to clarify the legal position. n nataraajhan sakthi management services
