The Code on Wages and Its Impact

The government of India is about to announce The Code on Wages, which will subsume The Equal Remuneration Act, 1976, The Minimum Wages Act, 1948, The Payment of Bonus Act, 1965, and The Payment of Wages Act, 1936. Various compliances, including factory licenses, CLRA licenses, and S & E Act registration, are available online in the state of Maharashtra.

Challenges in Online Registration

If you try for registration or payment of the Maharashtra Labour Welfare Fund on the state government's website, it is not active. So, it still demands you to visit their respective office at Prabhadevi (Parel). Is this not a sorry state?

Call to Action for Professionals

Employers' associations as well as trade unions have preferred to keep mum on this, but we, as professionals, should raise our voice on this subject. Also, the state government has to inform all employers what kind of welfare activities this Board does for the betterment of employees and how many employees have taken benefit of these schemes.
