Dear Bijay,
Professional Tax is collected by the state government. Therefore, you need to find out whether ex-servicepersons are exempted from the payment of the service tax by your state government. In the meanwhile, you may tell the exservicemen to provide the photocopy of the government policy letter on the said exemption.
Thanks,
Dinesh Divekar

under Karnataka Profession Tax Act,Employees who are 60 Years & above are exempted from the purview of Act.Similarly, you can find exemption on the basis of Age, category etc as provided in the relevant Act, which is state specific

Please check definition of 'employee' under Gujarat PT Act for exclusion / exemption.
