I work in the operations department of an event based company. We work 6 days a week and on Sundays we generally have events. Are those events counted as part of my work hours since I dedicate 10 hours to the event.
I understand that in a week 48 hours is the maximum I can work. Can I claim overtime for the hours I work on Sunday. Is there any law to back this up?

Since you are event management company you fall under the shops & establishments act. Yes, you are entitled to OT wages @ double the rate as per the act. It is for you to decide whether you should claim 2 hours OT.
