Competencies and competency mapping in an it professional
Hi everybody i am a summer trainee doing a summer project on competency mapping in my own company.i have been asked to prepare a competency model for the first four levels in my organisationespecially the associate consultantconsultantsenio r consultant and the consultant level.what i do realise is that i need to find out the various competencies of an it professional in each of these levels and then form a competency model on the basis of that.but the topic is very confusing and i dont know how to go about itif you guys could help me with some information then i will be ever grateful and thankful to u guys.if u already have some competencies identified for an it professional pls send it to me and also send me a sample competency model for an individual working at any level. thanks in advance anyways. if any of u cant post something here then mail me at sharmistha.chakravartygmail.com rgds sharmistha
Key competency and threshold competency
What are the key competencies required in an it job and what are the very few threshold competencies that allow a person to get differentiated between an associate consultant and a senior consultant level and then between a senior consultant and a manager?? i am doing this project where i have to prepare a competency model for my company so i need the above info to start with can anyone send me some example or help me start with my project??? thanks sharmistha

Dear all my question is related to competency models. as per my knowledge there are eight competency models/frameworks: 1. organizational competency based competency model 2. commitment & competence based competency model 3. 5level competency model 4. job based competency model 5. generic & specific competency model 6. managerial behavioral & functional competency based model 7. organizational goal linked competency model 8. technical & behavioral competency model for nonmanagerial staff can anyone help me comparing and contrasting all the above models and recommend which model is best suited to be used as framework for competency identification/competency profiling for management staff for an it company and why? i am looking forward for your response as i am in mid of completing my assignment for the same and need your help now. regards

I am an employee of a manufacturing organization as dy manger. now i am gone through the development center for promotion where our competency is a map by the external consultant but my all competency lying in medium proficiency and i want to improve that competency from medium to higher competency. the map competency is business acumen communication influencing openness to learning execution excellence customer orientation people development and the event carried out are group discussion role play problemsolving preparation behavioral event interview problemsolving example in the basket team game. so my problem is how i can improve the competency and actually how they identified the competency from the particular event please help.
