Dear Sir,
We are using an Ethanol as a main raw- material in our Neutraceutical plant.
My question is that is there any need to ban the use of mobile phone in the manufacturing area & near to the ethanol storage area and why??
2. Is non-flameproof wall clock (3-volt pencil cell) fitted in the plant is it risky ?? or not??

kindly guide and give a reason if the answer is no or yes. Thanks in advance.........!!!!

Dear khadam,
If no LEL found in ethanol operational activity u can use mobile phone.
In worst case LEL accumlation is possible in room during process operation, Mobile rings in same time, chance of fire/explosion took place. It is the reason behind it, to avoid mobile phones in solvent handling zones.
Radio frequency waves/ electro magnetic waves are possible ignition sources.
Simillarly wall clock is runs based on electrical power ( either battery or power source ) chance of spark generation.
Keep all Flame proof equipments in Hazardous Zones 1 & 2.
