Good Afternoon Members! We have a staff of around 30 employees in which there are only 10 male employees.
The male staff thinks that they are not given as much importance as the female employees. We gave chocolates & roses to our female employees on Women's Day. The females were very happy but the male staff were equally dissatisfied & even said that the females have not done anything special that they have a whole day dedicated to them. Kindly enlighten me as to what should be the steps taken by me as the HR of the company to satisfy the male staff and make them feel valued.

Hello,
We had celebrated Women's day in office by giving Gifts (Ladies Purse) & Roses to Women. For Male employees we gave one Big Greeting card to say Thank You. Management said that, its women's day so we had given priority to women's.
Also, we had arranged Role Drama play from Male side. Subject was Women’s Role.
What else we can do.. please suggest..

You must treat all the employees equally. it depends on the occasion that you can greet the employees by gifts at the same time to balance the motivating factor, you can conduct for some kind of tournaments or indoor / outdoor games for Males and organize some kind of Food Festival etc by doing this you are giving male and female staffs equal importance. Or else you can organize for Best Male employee of the month and Best female employee of the month such kind of awards.
Hope this will help you.

Hi Anjali,
This is not new. Even I have experienced in my company. We were only 8 female employees out of 100 male employees, still they used to envy us. However, they used to support and encourage us too to enjoy our day .. so take it light and review the situation as it may not be that serious.
On other note, if it is creating serious repercussions, call for a get together that includes male and female employees, order snacks etc. so males don't feel deprived of the enjoyment. Initiate some novel ideas that keeps both happy and contended e.g. if you order a cake and snacks, let ladies cut it. Then ask their male team members to say something good about them voluntarily (how enjoyable was working with them, their qualities etc.)
Hope it helps!
