Hi
I run a KPO of 13 people. The freshers I hire are diploma holders in architecture. Their gross salary is 15100. Now we train them on our software under a experienced person for the 1st 6 months. They do not fall under the skilled category as per the definition. They are under probation for a period of 3 months. Can I pay them 15100 per month and increase it to 16182 or do I need to pay them 16182 from the 1st month itself. We are incurring quite high costs to train them

When you train them they are not apprentice, they are workmen. Not every kind of company is covered under The Apprentices Act, 1961. The Industry must be indulging in "Designated Trade". The Following are the designated trades :- List of designated trades for Trade Apprentices:: Directorate General of Training (DGT) So see first that they are covered here.
So you need to pay the minimum wages from start. also now you need to report the wages paid in shram suvidha annual return.

Hi I looked it up. They are not covered under the designated trades. So can you please advise now? Do I need to pay them minimum wages for skilled labor during the probation period?
