query is incomplete, UAN is Universal account number, which is alloted to any epf member for all the accounts consolidation, it is auto generated by EPFO
Thank you Sharma ji. One of my friends left his organisation in Oct 2016. The HR there is not helping him with his UAN. They have given him a PF form and asked him to either get the UAN himself from the PF office or to give the form to the new employer. Is that the right way?

If Region, Establishment code and PF number is provided, an employee himself can get the UAN from EPFO website.
