Hi,
A offer letter is an official document that formally confirms the details of an offer of employment. And Appointment Letter is a legally binding document that confirms that an organization has offered a position to an employee and they have accepted the terms and agreement in exchange for a salary.

A letter of appointment is issued by employer to a prospective candidate selected for a particular post. The joining letter is a letter given by the employee to the employer accepting the terms of appointment and given on the date of his joining the establishment.

When a person is finally selected for a post, the Company sends an Offer letr or Apptt.Advice confirming his selection & asking him to join duty within... period. When the person joins duty; he has togive Joining Report thanking Mgmnt for appointing him & providing all Certificates & Documents to finalise Joining formality.Co. then issue Apptt.Order after checking & completing all formalities like Induction, joining kit etc.,

Hi All;

Appointment letter is issued by Employer when he selects a candidate, out of several, for a post in the organisation. That is prior to a candidate coming to work. Rather, it is based on this letter that the candidate resigns from his existing job. At times a candidate approaches many employers and is likely to get jobs from different employers. Then the candidate plays between employers. The candidate shows that appointment letter to new employer and bargains for higher salary. To avoid this, some employers issue only an offer letter, without mentioning the salary, based on which the candidate can resign from his existing job, and upon joining the employer issues appointment letter.

There is nothing as joining letter. It is a joining report. When an employee joins a new employer, the information is to go to many departments such as accounts, security, department, workers, union, canteen, transport. For this the superior of the candidate, who has joined, prepares a report that such and such a person has joined from today. The candidate has no role to play in joining report.
