since 25th oct 2016 EPFO is busy in developing the new portal, and no claim has been entertained after that date, now after launch of new portal claims would be released/ entertained.

they need a normal bank account, where NEFT or RTGS can be made, ( ISFC code is needed on cheque)
salary account does not means a zero balance account, in zero balance accounts, RTGS or NEFT does not work other than employer end,
in case you find the above true, then you can visit the bank and convert the account status from zero balance to normal savings account. (minimum quarterly balance should be maintained in that case)
