Hello Everybody.......... I am Nazia working as Officer (HRD) in a hospital. I want to prepare the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of HR deptt. Can anyone help me out????

There are no standard templates for SOPs as workflow/ process maps/ controls/ reporting structure vary across organsiation.. A good example is the list of instructions to be followed by an electrician before fiddling with the mains eg usage of personal protective equipment/ GFCI etc.
do read SSOPs too ( ie sanitaton sop's).

Make a flowchart of the process - then for every point where decision making takes place or erroneous data can be entered use controls....
finally when the above work has been done then simply write all the instructions to be followed to accomplish a task and they become the SOP.

Can you tell me that on which all procedures we can prepare SOPs of HR specifically.....
Although I had already prepared about Introductory Training, Employee Database, Attendance, Leave Management, Recruitment....
Will you plz tell me some other topics?????

SOPs are used as a supplement to Policies eg if you have a information security policy in place, then you may several SOPs regd background checks/ workplace surveillance/ non disclosure aggrements etc.

SOPs are also used to curb deviances in behaviour or laid down norms eg the case of an electrician not using safet equipment while working in a hazardous location. Here SOPs have another use ie if employee are unable to understand the implications of a policy eg canteen staff not practcing Hygiene may be asked to follow a checklist highlighting all important points so that no compromises are made.

This is very important as major policies fail to be implemented because they are not cleraly understood n followed by baseline staff.

another example is "distance selling directive" a law meant to safeguard cutomer's interests which sales staff manipulate and misrepresent to make a kill saying that the company gives a 15 day free trial period.

SOPs are also used if staff starts using shortcuts to enhance productivity at the xepenese of quality ( i dont need to elaborate on this one, this is what the veterans/ seniors in a cos claim to have aquired over the years)

General administration
Routine activities
security of peronnel and documents
Sick reporting
procedure for conferences
Re-dress procedure
insurance schemes
training and career development
it is actaully inexhaustive depending on what you what.

I am working as an hr asst manager ,right now working on formulation of hr sop and user manuals, new at this profile , not sure from where to start off ,
formulation of sop ?
user manual?
though so many people hv mentioned on preparation of sop's , is it same as hr maual?
if not then how to start making it
