Hi revered Seniors
I was suddenly and unexpectedly fired from my job which I worked at for 5 years, for no reason and was asked to leave the same day. They paid me for my notice period of two months in lieu. However I find it difficult to believe that senior managers in India can be fired from jobs despite great on the job performance and commitment to the job. Is this legal? I was promoted thrice in 5 years due to my good performance in the end it was all about not subservient to the new, unworthy supervisor. Is it still legal?

Dear Apruva,
When there are differences with the newly joined CEO or VP etc, these things happen. Since the separation was under the purview of your appointment letter, it leaves little room for objection. Newly joined persons show authority by resorting to these extreme steps so that they can send a signal to one and all to fall in line.
On spot removal or sudden removal of seniors is common everywhere. India is no different. Let us not forget that in one of the MNCs in USA, CEO was removed by sending SMS through one of the board members.
Since you have not given background of the case, it will not be possible to comment on the fairness of your removal.
Thanks,
Dinesh Divekar

How do we initiate a process to amend the law to protect white collared workers? We also sacrifice a lot...personal time, family events, hobbies and other passions to concentrate and deliver on our jobs. How is it fair that we can be thrown out with a snap of fingers? That too without a reason and any severence package!
