I heard that central govt has changed the rules for family pension.
Now after the death of pensioner , his spouse will get full pension(last pension drawn by deceased) for 10 years.
Earlier the spouse would get some 50% of the last pension drawn by deceased.
I read this news in Times of india some months back.
Recently one of my relatives, who husband was a pensionr, died . She wants to know whether she will get full pension.

For pension 10yrs service in EPF is required. But continuous service not required. Break in service, short service in various organisations etc. also admitted. Only condition is that in total 10 yrs service should be there.

Dear All,
I have worked earlier with some organization after than i have a break of 2 years. After 2 years i joined some other organization but i haven't withdraw PF from the previous organization, now i have got it transferred to my current PF account my serivces will be considered to be continued as per the pension fund.
Please explain.

Dear Pavan,
Your previous service will be added with current service and accordingly the pension will be calculated. But the break period will not be considered as service. However you may contact the Office of Regional PF Commissioner and ensure that your previous service is added with present service.

1. If service is less than 10 years and age is less than 58 years
2. If service is more than 10 years and age is less than 58 years

4. If service is more than 10 years and age is more than 58 years
Also please specify
a. How much pension per month?
b. What will happen after the accumulated pension amount is exhausted?

Whatever be the length of service and age, the accumulated amount with interest can be withdrawn from PF.
Regarding pension, I shall quote your questions one by one and respond,
1. If service is less than 10 years and age is less than 58 years
Ans. He (or she, as the case may be) is not eligible for pension, but can avail withdrawal benefit. If he wish to avail pension, he can transfer the service to club with future services.
2. If service is more than 10 years and age is less than 58 years
Ans. a) He can avail reduced pension immediately b) He may wait till 58 years' age and avail pension c) He may club the service with future services and avail pension.
3. If service is less than 10 years and age is more than 58 years
Ans. The only option is to avail withdrawal benefit.
4. If service is more than 10 years and age is more than 58 years
Ans. The only option is to avail pension
