We are the manufactures. We want to know that at the time of work in progress whether ESIC is applicable or not. If than how much we have to contribute and how much employee will pay. is it applicable on labour charges or on wages

1. Sir, I will request you to please intimate what is the meaning of "work in progress" ? Whether the production or work in the factory or establishment has not so far started ?
2. As soon as a unit starts production or work ( even though it may be on trial basis), and engages minimum number of persons as required under said Act, the said unit/factory is coverable under said Act from said date and compliance is required to be made.
3. The rates of contributions and other procedure etc. is laid down under said Act and rules/regulations framed thereunder. You can download relevant material from the website of ESIC for your guidance on the issue.
