Hello, My manager is not at all appreciating my work. During my performance review he has involved HR team to update on my performances. I have always tried to complete my work before the said deadlines. I am very sincere & hardworking to my work. I am handling HR & Admin profile in my company with 280+ team size. He has taken out my mistakes which I have done (there is 2-3 mistakes). I would say it's a silly mistake which we can ignore it instead of making it an issue. I don't get positive response whenever I meet him to have any discussion. I am pregnant for more than 3 months and I don't want to take any tension. This is happening from last one month. I have always got appreciation email during any clients or visitors visit for my work.

No one has problem in my team expect him. I would say he is not all supportive in my case. Every next day I try to meet with him with a positive attitude but he always makes his faces. Sometime I feel like leaving the job. But I don't want to spoil my career. I don't understand what to do during this situation. This I cannot discuss in my family because I don't want to give them any tension.

Guys please guide me what to do in this situation!!..

Regards,

Jyotshna

Dear Jyotshna,

When the quality of the work is not appreciated or when a constructive feedback is not given, it frustrates an employee. This is exactly happening to you. Nevertheless, you could have been little more specific. Within HR, what type of work do you do? What are your KRAs? What is your score? What value addition did you do?

Could you identify what exactly are the expectations of your Manager? Could you identify what his strengths and weaknesses? Could you identify what are his likes and dislikes? Please treat your Manager as your company. Tune yourself to his expectations and try to reduce his tensions or stress. Have a tête-à-tête once and understand his expectations.

In the initial days when you joined this company or when Manager joined your company, did he disappoint because of your work and he is unable to eradicate his memories? You need to investigate reasons for mismatch in expectations of both of you.

Thanks,

Dinesh Divekar
