Dear all, this is Prawinand from Bengaluru, presently I am working with small company and the employees around 70 .I will be working with company founder.Recently I got married ,for my marriage I have applied 20 days leave. The company founder asked me why you want that many days ,we got married in 1 hour only and came back to the Office after that .I have told that in my native place they will not allow from the town upto 16 days after married, then he said Ok that time.

Now we will be having some work with family to go to native or some urgent works. I have asked him for 1 day he said " NO,we have already given more leaves to you,we will not allow to to give leave further " for that.recently some transport was not there due to bandh in the City ,because of this I was not able to go to the Office and I have put the mail to the Company Founder. He said that "No He has to Come to the Office" to the HR. With this I am not able to concentrate on My work and Family, with this I don't have peace ... Can you people tell us suggestions to go further...

Your founder seems to be an impossible type of personality and it would be very difficult for any employee to get along with such an employer particularly when one is under his direct control and supervision. After all, paid employment can only be a means for living not living in itself. Better try for an alternative posting in the Company conveniently away from its founder or seek for a better job elsewhere.

Hi Prawinand,
First of All, HAPPY MARRIED LIFE
We are working to LIVE, but not living for Work I mean work personal life balance is necessary. if you are not feeling well with that employer you can change immediately, but what if the next employers do the same thing :). Understand that most of employers/ managers will not give bulk leaves to employees except in a urgent/important situations. you think change is mandatory to balancing work life you can do so.
Wishing you good luck.

You have to understand the basic definition of the leave, when you are bound to get employed, drawing wages for the work. Mostly it runs smoothly due to the best relationship with supervisors.
'Leave' which means authorized absence from duty has never been a matter of right.
Leave has to be intimated with the nature of work and must be congenial for creating suitable atmosphere for employment.
The employer can refuse to grant leave to an employee due to exigencies of work and employee has to be intimated to this effect.
You can refer to the case law for this - The workmen of Orissa Transport corporation vs Orissa transport corporation, 1975 I LLJ 11.
