Hi All,

Greeting for the day!!!

i just wanted to put forward my concern and current status in my company.

I am with this company since last 3+ yrs and working as a senior Team Lead carrying over all 6+ years of experience as a whole into Recruitment and Client Relationship.

My company is a mid size US MNC.

There is a recent change in Management and the person who took over our department is from non- recruitment background.

Its difficult to make him understand about the efforts and deals of our processes.

Sametime i was expecting a role and responsibility promotion, which went on hold because of the change in senior management.

Now the new person who came has told me one day when i asked him " what would be my next level growth" he said - " recruiter will always be a recruiter"

Please suggest me if thats the fact??!! and also let me know how do i need to deal with him.

shall it be the time to move on and switch? Or is there any other way i can make him understand.

i am really a hard worker..got so many appreciations at times but this new behaviour is really difficult to cop up.

Not even able to focus on my day to day work. its effecting my performance.

Need seniors suggestions. Please show the path here.

Thanks in advance.

Dear Shilpi,
We have to face whimsical bosses in our career.
Either we bide our time to wait for things to change or change our job.
It is ironical that your boss tells that a recruiter will be recruiter.
It does not mean you have to be one like that. It is his view.
Improve your skills to either change the job or wait for better days.
Continue to work hard and be sincere. You will get rewards sooner or later.

Dear Shilpi
It not easy to be a recruirt , great that your boss tells you be a recruiter alswys.(If you like recruitment then its a blessing for you)
Else its not one man show, If you have talent then use your hard work , skills and people managment to get finally you want.
I have seen people going thru "Boiling Frog Syndrome" Hope you do not end up doing that.
Good Luck, let me know if this helped.

Thanks Raghunathan for your valuable suggestion.
I will keep on putting my best efforts for sure. But will not be able to wait for long since its difficult to stay back in such organisation where your boss doesnt know what skills you have and how to motivate talent.

Dear Anju,
Thank you for your advice.
It will help a lot.
I also agreed on your part that its not one man show, but factually its all your Boss that one man whom you always need to support and motivate. if that person is not respecting your position...and if he is not letting you see your growth and goal how you will get a push to work hard.
i would love to be into recruitment always but will never take that blessing to be a recruiter all the time.
Thats why i asked all seniors in this forum.."whats the growth of a recruiter in an organisation?
Anju...shall i consider that recruiter always remains a recruiter in an organisation.
