Hi,
I would like to know if we have in India minimum working hours as per Labour Law mentioned for a full time employee. How many hours of working per day can be called as part time employee and full time employee.
If I am not wrong the maximum working hours as per law is 48 hours per week. But I could not find the minimum working hours per week.
Would appreciate someone could help me.
thanks and regards
JD

There is no minimum hours. You cannot insist that you should work for a minimum number of hours to get wages. A 1000 sq feet office may not require a full time housekeeping person and if some one is hired for one or two hours, he will earn wages for that one or two hours. The Minimum Wages Act also provides for proportionate reduction in the daily wages based on the hours worked.

Hi,
You have not specified your industry and location. In general, under Mumbai Shop Act per day maximum 9 hrs and in week maximum 48 hrs.But in MNC(specifically n IT industry they have taken special permission from Govt. and those employees work more than 9 hrs in a day but that depends on the situation or as per the work requirement.
