Hi HR Professionals,
We have read a quote about training that "Training is costly but if not provided it is more costly". Do you think Training is essential part of the organization and companies should invest more on it.
Please share your views.

Dear Adhaan,
Your query is very generic.
Senior People like Mr Dinesh Divekar have dwelt at length about the need for training
and calculation of ROI. Please refer to his articles previously posted in this forum.
Let us take some specific cases.
Suppose a Company decides to adopt SAP system.
It has to train all the concerned employees without which the decision cannot be implemented.
XYZ starts a new factory and recruits a number of raw hands. Raw hands have to be given proper training before they could deliver.
Saying that training is costly, is incorrect.
Whether it is cost effective OR paying back is the point to be considered and ensured.

Well gentleman you have raised the valid question however, the forum is not necessarily appropriate. Almost all the members of this forum are directly or indirectly associated with the HR profession. Obviously their reply will be "yes" for the employee training.

The appropriate forum to ask this question is where MDs, Directors, CEOs are members. Importance of the employee training should get into their head. These people allocate the budget for the training. HR or Training professionals just spend the budget. My observation is that barely 5% of the companies in India train their employees. Therefore, your question can be asked to other 95% employees.

Secondly, while raising the query, please provide some research data that shows cost of non-training is more than cost of training. Sans sufficient research data, either of your own or of someone else's, this argument becomes visceral.
