Sec 15 of the Industrial Disputes Act stipulates similar time frame for finalising the proceeding by labour courts etc.But no disputes were adjudicated within that frame work.
Hello,I am a novice and need to know whether these six months count from the date of receiving the charge sheet or from the date of appointing of inquiry officer?
Second question is whether there is a timeline for appointing enquiry officer after issuing the charge sheet? Thanks in advance

From the text of the extracted Judgment-" all efforts should be made to conclude the departmental inquiry proceedings against the delinquent employee within six months as an outer limit" .Enquiry starts after the enquiry Officer is appointed .
The Judgment applies only in the Public Law sphere .Not for the Private Sector. At best it can only be a guidance.
The process of completion depends upon the Enquiry officer .
