During my interaction with an HR professional, who works in the Background Verification team, which is an HR support service, it was learnt that challenges occurred with respect to the process of carrying out a project with immediate reportees. He believed that this lead to process deviation with regard to the work flow, which could be of work occurring at different levels, this leading to process gaps between departments. Are there ways in which such a challenge can be addressed and the gaps occurring be minimized?

Yes. There is a way to minimise this.
One way is to have a better definition of work and distribute the work accordingly among the various verticals of a department and have an understanding with the horizontals of the other departments in a work place, thus facilitating a more conducive work atmosphere.

I feel the basic problem is communication. Here are few thoughts:
1. Send out weekly/ monthly HR Newsletter which talks about your team, new updates.
2. Create a page in your internal HR portal called "Question me" where people can post their queries which
should be answered without fail. Therefore you have a communication!
3. Finally, have a monthly birthday bash! People will love to come and eat the cake! Therefore you are getting
people under one roof and you can have a fun "get to know our team" where people ask about each other/

A gap analysis could be done and the immediate reportees could be trained to pay more attention to detail and thereby minimize such gaps.
