Candidates from technical background work better as a IT recruiter than a normal MBA(HR) with no technical background.

This is an analysis done by one of my friend who has several years of IT recruitment experience working in USA.

He told me that you can teach theory of recruitment to anybody within 20 days but it takes long time to understand the jargons of technology.

Why technical background people are better IT recruiters?
(1) Understanding the Job Description is easy for technical people because they have dealt with technology In and Out on day to day basis.

(2) Sourcing is easy for them because they have a IT professionals network and understanding of technology.

(3) Screening of resumes is easy for them.

(4) Even the people with technical background can easily interview the people at all levels which a normal HR generalist can’t.

Now many companies in USA are keeping their IT recruiters from technical background people only somehow who have worked in technology.

Dear friend,
Recruitment is secondary duty of every manager, technical or otherwise. However, their use only for recruitment would be underlisation of their potential or talent.
Technical persons make design of the product or develop a product as per the design. Technical persons are also used in R and D. Ignoring all this, using their calibre for recruitment would be taking very blinkered view.
Your friend could be in recruitment hence he told his observation. However, generalisation on this count would be detrimental to the society in general and individual in particular.
We use army personnel during national calamity or even to control riots or civil disturbance. They have excelled in these tasks as well. Nevertheless, they were not trained for these purposes. If they are not used sparingly for these activities, it could spell disaster. Same thing is applicable about technical persons as well.
