I am a probationary officer in a psu bank and completed 1 year of probation also.recently my husband met with an accident and now he is paralysed from waist down.since I belong to lucknow n posted in varanasi it is not posible for me to take care of my husband for the past 2 months I am going back to lucknow on weekends this up n down and all this emotional stress is taking a toll on my health.i told my management regarding my problem and also put in a transfer request but they are adamant that only after 3 yrs I will be transferred I know that I can't pressure them to transfer me.therefore there is no option left then to resign.i am not in a position to pay 2 lac so I want to know is there any way I can avoid or may be pay a lesser amount.

I am sad to hear of the medical problem.
Have you read the compassionate posting policy of your bank?
Check out regarding resignation on medical problems of dependents.
I am sure there must be some clause which permits exits without bond money on genuine cases of this nature.

In my offer letter it was mentioned that I have to execute a service indemnity bond undertaking to serve a minimum period of 3 yrs or else pay 2 lac in case I decide to resign. Now I know that it was my mistake that I didn't read the bond at time of signing it probably bcoz I was too excited about the job n they didn't provided me a copy of the bond so I don't know what is exactly written in it but now when I am asking for a copy they are simply denying to do so

Thank you for your suggestion when I came to know about the medical condition of my husband I immediately talked to the gm of hr department he said to submit transfer request and all the relevant medical certificate of my husband and told me he would loook into the matter but 4 months have passed and now whenever I try to reach him he is unavailable I tried to talk to the cmd but his assistant told me to talk to gm of personnel but her assistant gave me this rude reply that everyone is having problems you are not alone.i even talked to people in union but they also gave me vague assurances.my superiors are saying that if i don't pay the money bank can sue me with everything happening i cant have a court case also

Write to Chairman describing the plight you undergoing. He possesses powers to transfer on compassionate grounds. Try to retain the job as far as possible. You can shift your husband to your present place of posting and try to pass time till transfer. Time flies like anything.
Going in litigation by you at this juncture will be adding fuel to fire. Under sections 73 and 74 of the Contract Act one need pay only reasonable proportionate amount of bond equal to the expenditure incurred upon you during training and if nothing materialises as above, request the management to determine appropriate bond amount payable by you.
Thanks
Sushil
