In Retail Industry, which are the prevailing performance appraisal systems and whish is the best one?

There would not be specific retail industry appraisal system. Most of the appraisal systems in retail should have weekly, monthly and quarterly reviews to ensure that targets are being met specifically for operations/sales vertical.
you may have KPI's for head operations and then percolate the same down till the store level. Usually best practice would be to follow the bsc to cover all aspects of the job.

Retail industry would have no different from any other PMS system. It's only the parameters / KRAs/ KPIs have to be aligned with it. Besides it will vary with the front house staff versus back of the house. FOH could be tied with sales/ customer satisfaction index/ dump %/ attrition etc. Merchandising could have fill rate percentage/ on time delivery etc. It has to be role specific.
