Hi everyone.
Please help me. I have small back office with only 3 employees. We dont have any ESIC and EPF for them as they are less then 10people and as per Mumbai shops act, they are not covered under the act. We plan to but mediclaim and accident insurance policy for our staff. Now my question: if some accident will happen at work place and the staff dies, the insurance company will pay the staff insurance money to the staff family, but in addition to that, do I also have to pay additional money to the staff as per Workmen compensation act? Please provide your kind answers. Thanks.

I think so the company need not pay the compensation for the staff because company buying the insurance policy right..

Thanks Ashok for the reply but I want to be sure in this case. It should not happen that even after getting the death benefit from the LIC policy the family should not claim for more compensation from the employer.
