Hello Everyone,
I am a teacher with a school in Hyderabad. I have turned in my resignation letter as my doctor has confirmed my pregnancy and advised bedrest in the first trimester to avoid any miscarriage. Also, my husband who works with a nationalised bank has been transferred to another city. I have to travel 46 kms one way on very bad roads to make it to my school. My HR policy says 2 months of notice period. But going by my doctor's advice, my notice period is only going upto 1 month. My school management is trying to convince me to finish the term. Please advice me, what are the strong points that I can put forward so that they cannot hold me forcibly. I have a doctor's prescription which clearly states threat of aborting and advise of bed rest.
Thanks
Sweetie

Hi Sweetie,
First of all the Congratulations are in order.
Regarding your problem there is the Maternity Benefits Act, for which I have attached the PDF file in link 2, and link 1 is an article, hope they shall prove useful in arguing for your cause.
