My dad works in a government bank. He has been working since 1982. He is 56 year old now. He has always been very hard working and supportive nature in office. So far all managers has been praising him. He has been posted in a remote location big branch since last 3 years. And manager therekeeps pushing him for more work he abuses him and keep threatening him.
My dad is not in a good health because of this and in a big tension.
Kindly help what can be done.

Every officer big or low graded, has to discipline himself. They are bound by conduct rules of the bank. Abusing by higher officer also cannot be tolerated. If possible do some recordings of such incidents and make representation to higher ups for taking such officer to task. Then apply for transferring elsewhere because of inhuman behavior. If you belong to reserved category then report to SC/ST Commission about such debasive behavior. Pass on tension instead to that undisciplined officer. Cite in the representation the real reason as why he is misbehaving like that. I think he will then set himself right.

Hello Rahul,
You mentioned that your father works in a PSB.
As far as I know, the Unions are pretty strong in PSBs.
Why doesn't he take their help? IF this has been the experience of other staff also with this manager, then the chances of the Union intervening are higher.
And, like the other member suggested, applying for transfer would be another option viable in PSBs [may not equally apply to Private Banks].
And, given his age, frankly, I don't suggest he opt for going legal--more of a hassle than a solution [not that this isn't the right approach, but in the given situation, the cost-benefits MAY NOT be really worthwhile].

Without having proof of misbehavior and use of abusive language against his senior, the junior may be counter charged with leveling false accusations against his senior. Thus for seeking transfer also some corroborative proof is required. Mere allegations are not sufficient. May be other colleagues may not come forward in help. Even before going to seek help of union, they will ask for sufficient evidence against senior otherwise suit for defamation may lie against accuser. So be vigilant before taking any step.

Routine transfer was supposed is due since last year. Last year dad wrote transfer application to Lucknow. but it was misplaced by manager. due to which transfer department did not consider transfer. Now again an application is sent, so transfer is due this year.
Dad is not a brave heart person. he kept his life and work low profile throughout his career. even he is scared to write complain against his manager (considering threats and fire backs)
