Transactional Analysis (TA) today is one of the best theories available for employee development, performance management and interpersonal excellence. The biggest TA training centre is in India-at Kochi, Kerala, Institute for Counselling and Transactional Analysis (ICTA). I think the potential is not tapped by trainers, mentors and coaches as they perhaps were mislead by books like "I am OK, You are OK". TA is a rich theory for OD interventions and performance management. I was attracted to to TA by realising the role 'Awareness' in human destiny. Emotional Intelligence can be implemented excellently using TA as it is a meta-theory.

Hi Sebastianka,
Transactional Analysis is no doubt one of the best theories for self development
as well as Interpersonal development.
However your comment that people are misled by books like "I am OK , You are OK"
is puzzling.

Dear Reghunathan,
It is true that TA was brought to lime light by the book," I am ok You are ok" by Dr, Thomas A Haris. But this book is not in the syllabus for National/International TA certification. This book is based only on part of the theory. I am the present President of ICTA--Institute for Counselling and Transactional Analysis,Kochi the biggest TA centre. It was started Fr, George in 1973, who was trained by Dr, Muriel James (author of Borne to Win). After the training at ICTA, I believe that the depth of TA is not reflected in the book. There is no doubt " I am Ok You are Ok" is a great self help book.

Transactional Analyst Taibi Kahler suggested Five driver behaviours that affect our/Executive performance. This driver behaviours can be identified and creating awareness about our driver behaviour will help us to perform much better. For example an executive with the driver 'Hurry Up' will be famous for procrastination. Communication can be very confusing. But when they are aware they can have 'multy tasking' ability--doing more than two tasks at a time! A boss with "Be Perfect" driver and a subordinate with "Hurry Up" driver can create lot of head ache for the company.
such advanced TA concepts have not reached many organisations..It is a good intervention for improved performance.
