Hi Fens,
I am working for Pharma Company, earlier i worked in hospitality management as Executive - HR for one year plus 2 months, and now joined as Executive-HR before two months i.e on 1st Sep 05, but after my joining in this company, management changed the department name HR to P & A, i am specialised in HR, how can i work for P&A, I want to change my job for better prospects of my career, can i get new job with short span of exp of two months.
Kindly suggest me pls.

Dear Rajani,
Whatever be the name of the dept, what do you do there? Is it the HR functions? What is your designation?
I guess this is one learning opportunity for you being in this company, if you don’t have any other issues other than the company changing the department name.
I suggest you stick on to this company for another 2 years, if you are continuing to do the HR activities, or else be with this company for 7-8 more months, which will make your total experience to 2 years (1 yr and 2 months in Hospitality and 10 months in Pharma), and then think of a switch over.
Else if you feel that you are not at all into HR activities, move on, and you’ve got minimum experience, which should fetch you a job elsewhere.
In the long term career perspective, I suggest you should stick on.

Hi,
What's in a name? Your are still in the people management function.
While the change in the name function does suggest a change in the approach/philosophy in managing the function, it does NOT necessarily mean so!
What is it in your case?
How do you differentiate one from the other in any case?
I suggest that you need not be so touchy and on the edge. The pangs of growth are difficult to understand initially and therefore jumping to conclusions and indulging in reactive behaviour in the career could prove rather costly.
If despite all that is said here, your gut feeling says QUIT, by all means follow your gut feeling and take the world on as it comes. Good wishes for your courage if you choose this option.
Else, don't be in such a great hurry about your career choices!

It’s doesn’t matter that your name of the department has been changed from HR to P&A. Stick with the same company and try to get learn as much you can. Regards dsv

Nevermind the change in the department name as long as you are perfoming the functions which are in line with your qualifications & as long as you are satisified with what you are doing. since your field of interest is HR & you are getting hands on experience I think it is too early on your part to even think of changing the job.
always remember that it is better to stick on during the learning stage & learn whatever you can because it will pay you dividends at a later stage of your career. what does it matter if they have changed the name of your dept as long as you are performing the HR functions. Hope you have understood what I am trying to put across to you. All the very best to you.
