Notice period query.
Hi all i have been working with a multinational company for the last 5 years. as per my appointment letter my notice period is one month. last year i received an appraisal letter where i have been promoted to a senior level and the notice period has been changed to 2 months. recently i was sent abroad for a project and prior to my travelno discussions or official communications were made regarding any contract to be signed or any change in notice period. upon my return i have been verbally informed by a superior that my notice period has been changed to six months. i havent got any letter or official communication through mail regarding this and the communication is just verbal i havent agreed to the change either.though i am not planning to leave immediately i feel cheated and arm twisted into accepting something i dont want to. my query is is it possible for a company to unilaterally decide a change in notice period without a consultation and with the employee and without any verbal or signed consent from the employee. if i am served with an amendment letter what should i do? and if i refuse to accept the amended notice periodis it still valid and when i resign am i liable to serve the six months notice period? please help

Clarification of employee status during notice period
Dear senior s i have a concern about status of an employee who is on notice period : case is as bellow : for sales workforce field employee : if an employee has submitted his resignation on 1st oct & has to serve his notice period of 30 days which will end on 30th oct now during noc clearance he is not able to clear the issues related to business partners. now he left the organization on 17th rather than completing his notice period till 30th oct now there is no communication from him even after communication from organization. can we treat this case as an absconding?? though the person has already sent resignation mail but flee during notice period after 1 year he sent us communication to clear his full & final settlement should we initiate the same process of noc clearance assets submission or recovery for everything?? or close his case after some time span due to noncommunication/nontracing of employee??? regards manish gupta
Notice period extension accross organization.
Dear all inputs in the above discussion really helped me .. thank you so much i am currently facing a similar situation the notice period is 1 month in the appointment letters issued till date irrespective of probation confirmation. however since we are facing attrition in critical resources we want to send out communication to entire organization stating that the notice period would be 2 month after confirmation. but here are my concerns: 1. by doing so am i violating any labor law ? we are an ecommerce company 2. do i need to take an acknowledgement from the employees to enforce such a change or an email communication from the ceo would suffice ? 3. and regarding the final settlement would i have to hold back 2 months salary until the employee serves the notice? 4. kindly help me with a email format to be sent out to all employees mentioning the settlement details as well & the management is flexible to let go few employees diff department before 2 months notice so request you to share your input and also help me with a format for the same asap... thank you

No confirmation letter after probation - notice period duration confusion
Hi i have joined a company in 4 july on a probation of 3 month after the probation period but not confirmed communication in written i want to leave the company. in probation period notice period is 45 days on conformation notice period is 2 months. employer said to serve 2 month notice period after not accepting i didn t go for 3 days and they sent me a legal notice from lawyer to serve 2 month notice period or pay 2 month salary please help me what conditions are applied on me?
