I work as an HR Executive in a construction company. They deal in multilevel hotels and malls. My work hours are 10 AM to 7 PM. Is it ok as per rules and regulation?
I think the work hours must be 8 hours. Please give your valuable guidance.

Hello Deepthi,
As per Shops&Establishment act the number of working hours per day 9hrs (including lunch break) is maximum and per week is 48Hrs maximum.
Please let us know for any questions in this regard.

Dear Ms. Deeptiji,
There are two categories (1) Workmen (2) Management staff. Staff though they come under the scope of Shops & Establishment act or covered under labour act as an employee, they do not have voice to raise for rules and regulations, as the salaries are beyond the minimum wages. In respect of workmen, the wages will be paid as per the Unions demands, in few cases even below the minimum wages.
Hence, it is the management decision to follow the timings as the salaries are unlimited.
