Dear Bhavesh,
When I left my job years ago, after working for 5 year, I was told the same in a government job. I accepted that, though I had accumulated 90+ days of earned leave, and was released without any problems.
Please give more details about how much leave you have accumulated. Let me also pose a question. Will it be ethical or right for one to give a notice of one month and then avail one month leave and put the company in trouble to meet its deadlines to their clients?

Dear bkp1990,
Its obvious that a few companies follow this rule because as Nashbrammal has said nobody would like to take up the risks of meeting the deadlines of the exiting employee. In case, if your case is genuine in taking a leave like sickness or something it can be considered with the approval of your HOD. Please co-operate and co-ordinate with the HR because even he is also an employee and he also is doing his job.

We have not got much detail about the scenario to give you precise advice. For example, how long have you worked there? Is the organisation aware of your studies and the need to attend examinations? Why did you resign instead of just taking time off for your examinations?
