what is provision for overtime under Factories Act.. how much hrs one can do in factory, under which section of act. i am not talking about payment of overtime but hours one can work.

According to Factories Act, 1948, Overtime is allowed for total 12 hours a week, means 2 hours a day. Total number of hours of work in week, including overtime, shall not exceed 60 hours.
Also Quarterly limit for OT hours is 50.

(2), make rules prescribing the circumstances in which, and the
conditions subject to which, the restrictions imposed by clause (i)
and clause (ii) shall not apply in order to enable a shift worker to
work the whole or part of a subsequent shift in the absence of a
worker who has failed to report for duty;
1*[(iii) the total number of hours of work in a week,
including overtime, shall not exceed sixty;]
2*[(iv) the total number of hours of overtime shall not
exceed fifty for any one quarter.
